Manchester City and Barcelona face off in Florida tonight in a huge pre-season friendly.
For the Spanish giants, it is a first run out of the summer as their pre-season begins in earnest in the United States and under new head coach Hansi Flick.
City, meanwhile, are two deep Stateside but have suffered two defeats in those games – shipping seven goals in the process against Celtic and AC Milan.
Pep Guardiola will surely want an improved performance against the club he is still most associated with and will fancy his side’s chances against a depleted Barca.
Manchester City are yet to win a friendly game during their pre-season in the United States. Pep Guardiola’s side have kept their supporters entertained in America after scoring five goals in two games, though those ended in defeat to Celtic and AC Milan.
The Scottish Premiership side came away 4-3 winners while Milan recorded a 3-2 win. The match against Barcelona will be a special one for the City boss, who began his playing career at the Spanish side before going on to manage them between 2007 and 2012.
In his pre-match press-conference, Guardiola highlighted his gratitude towards the club saying: “It doesn’t matter if it’s a friendly or an official game against Barcelona, for me personally, for the Club and team it will always be so special.
“I am here thanks to Barcelona – they gave me absolutely everything. It’s not words to be nice to Catalonia, it is the truth.”
