France face the United States in Group A of the men’s football on the first day of the Paris Olympics 2024.
The match at the Orange Velodrome, France kicks off at 9pm local time.
France had hoped their squad would be graced by the talismanic Antoine Griezmann to lead the line but in Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, they have an able replacement.
With Olise already one of the headline names, the pair will share a link-up from their time together in the Premier League.
Mateta, who joined Palace in 2022 from French club Mainz, has represented France throughout the youth level but has yet to play for the senior side.
The 27-year-old, who also holds Democratic Republic of the Congo citizenship, has scored an impressive 22 Premier League goals in 41 starts since his permanent move to Selhurst Park.
The USA have also opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Defender Zimmerman, who is in their back four, was expected to be captain but the Americans have handed the armband to midfielder Tessmann.
Tessmann and Busio — who recently helped their club Venezia earn promotion to the Italian top flight — will form the double pivot.
McGuire is the lone striker up top and he is supported by a three-man attack of Paredes, Mihailovic and Aaronson.
