Troy Deeney reveals when Arsenal will be out of title race

Former Watford striker, Troy Deeney has revealed when Arsenal will be out of the Premier League title race this season.

Arsenal dropped two points after failing to beat Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Gunners now sit in the fourth position on the Premier League table with nine points behind leaders Liverpool after eleven matches.

Deeney, however, believes Arsenal’s Premier League title race will be over if they lose one more match.

“I would say they are in a situation where every game is massively important,” Deeney said on Match of the Day 2.

“If they lose one more time I think they are out of it [the title race] because otherwise they are going to have to beat Liverpool away and [Manchester] City as well.”

Arsenal look as though they could fall short in the Premier League title race for the third season in a row.

Liverpool are favourites to win the Premier League as things stand, and Arsenal do have some serious ground to make up on the Reds.

Gary Neville still believes Arsenal can win the league, but if the Gunners are to ascend to the top of the table, they need to step things up.

Arsenal have had issues in terms of scoring goals as of late. The Gunners failed to score from open play in three consecutive games in December and more firepower is needed.

Luckily, the January transfer window is open, and Arsenal have their eyes on a few attacking options.

Arsenal have looked at Viktor Gyokeres recently, while Mikel Arteta is a fan of Alexander Isak.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Troy Deeney has been discussing Alexander Isak’s form for Newcastle, and he says that the Swedish striker would take Arsenal to the next level.

Deeney spoke about how well Isak has been playing recently.

The pundit claims that if Arsenal had Isak they would win the league, warning Newcastle that they need to do all they can to keep Isak and build their team around the £60m man.

“That’s scary. I’ve said it before, but I think if Arsenal had him they would win the league. If I’m Newcastle they need to do everything they can to keep him and try to build that squad around him,” Deeney said.
