Fiorentina’s season under new head coach Raffaele Palladino didn’t get off to the best of starts.
The Viola started their Serie A campaign with three draws and one defeat. But the run of games coincided with Fiorentina’s two legged Europa Conference League playoff against Puskás Akadémia, and it could be that Palladino prioritised European qualification over league form.
With European football secured, performances have picked up, and Fiorentina now sit fifth in Serie A. Palladino’s team has 13 points from eight games with three wins, four draws and one defeat.
They also have a 100 percent record in the Europa Conference League with wins over The New Saints (2-0) and Saint Gallen (4-2).
Combining their European wins with domestic victories over AC Milan (2-1) and Leece (6-0), Fiorentina are now on a four-match winning streak.
Ivan Juric’s team beat Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 in the Europa League to give the Giallorossi a much needed confidence boost.
Juric is supposed to be in his so-called honeymoon period after taking over from Daniele De Rossi earlier in the season. But that is simply not the case with the Croatian already coming under fire from fans and media after some poor results.
The Europa League victory ended a run of three matches without a win consisting of a disappointing 1-0 Europa League loss to Elfsborg, a 1-1 draw away at Monza, and a 1-0 home defeat to Inter last Sunday.
In Serie A, Roma sit 10th in the table with 10 points from eight matches. The Giallorossi has won two, drawn four and lost two this season.
