Roma vs Empoli, Napoli vs Bologna

Roma failed to break the deadlock in a goalless draw away at Cagliari on the opening day of the 2024/25 season. They will look for the maiden win of the campaign on Sunday evening in the home clash against Empoli in Matchday No 2.

The Romans finished last season in 6th position and they will bid for the top-five places and a spot in the IUEFA Champions League this time around. This will also be the first full season for Danielle De Rossi as the head coach. De Rossi has an intriguing attacking lineup on disposal, strengthened by Girona’s talisman Artem Dovbyk.

Empoli also began the season with a goalless stalemate. They drew to Monza in a match in which we saw no more than two shots on target in total by both teams combined. They barely avoided relegation last time out, ending the season just one place above the relegation spots.

Antonio Conte got off to a nightmare start to his reign at Napoli. His team fell 0-3 away at Hellas Verona on the opening day of the 2024/25 season. The Partinopei created a lot of chances but the players mostly fired wide, failing to convert any of them.

Napoli will have a difficult task to bounce back in their first home match of the campaign. They host Champions League-bound Bologna on Sunday evening in Matchday No 2 at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Bologna did not get the brightest of results of their own, drawing 1-1 at home to Udinese last weekend.

Nevertheless, they looked fantastic on the pitch, creating a huge amount of opportunities and firing 22 shots towards Udinese’s goal at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. It was a promising performance in Vincenzo Italiano’s maiden game in charge of Bologna in Serie A.
