Marseille won each of the last five home fixtures in the Europa League

Marseille and Atalanta will meet each other in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final tie on Thursday evening at Stade Orange Velodrome. The hosts will look to end the negative thread in the clashes against Italian outfits.

Marseille lost five and drew two of the previous seven head-to-head outings with Italians. This will be their first encounter against Atalanta.

Marseille won each of the last five home fixtures in the UEFA Europa League. The Phocians scored at least three goals in four of these five wins.

Atalanta notched two or more goals in four of their five away games in this term of Europa League.

Both teams were successful at the weekend. Marseille dispatched Lens 2-1 at home on Sunday evening. Their top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang starred with a goal and an assist on the occasion. The Phocians are now just two points shy of Lens in 6th position of the Ligue 1 standings.

Atalanta continued their winning streak by beating Empoli 2-0 four days ago in Bergamo. Mario Pasalic and Ademola Lookman were on target in a strong attacking showing by Gianpiero Gasperini’s troops.

The Dea broke back into the top six in the Serie A table. They also advanced to the Coppa Italia final by beating Fiorentina 4-1 in the reverse clash of the semi-final tie last Wednesday.
