FULL TIME: Mainz 3 – 0 Borussia Dortmund

Duped the Champions League finalists and very close to staying in the league: FSV Mainz 05 has the best prospects of being in the Bundesliga next season after a 3-0 (3-0) win against a very weak B team from Borussia Dortmund play.

Thanks to the clear success, the 05ers moved up to 15th place in the table on the penultimate matchday and are two points ahead of the relegation place to which Union Berlin has fallen. Mainz can no longer be relegated directly.

In the home arena, Leandro Barreiro (12th) and Jae-Sung Lee (19th, 23rd) made things clear early on. Because of the significantly better goal difference compared to Union, a draw at VfL Wolfsburg next Saturday is enough to stay in the league.

After the furiously won Champions League semi-final in Paris during the week, BVB appeared to have changed ten positions – and was lethargic and prone to errors. It is now certain that Dortmund will end the season in fifth place. In addition, Marcel Sabitzer did not appear in the squad at all; Mainz played without the suspended Phillipp Mwene and the injured Karim Onisiwo.
