FULL TIME: Lille 2 – 0 Slavia Prague

LOSC has taken the lead! This Tuesday, Lille dominated Slavia Prague (2-0) for the first leg of the Champions League play-off at the Stade du Hainaut in Valenciennes.

From the first minutes, Lille took control of the ball, without managing to get close to Kinsky’s goal. Active at the start of the game, Gudmundsson created the first opportunity with a shot, from a tight angle, caught by the opposing goalkeeper. After a complicated first quarter of an hour, the Czechs found their form again by managing to keep the ball for a few minutes.

With increasingly balanced debates, the match had difficulty getting going with opportunities that were non-existent for a long time. Then on a good collective sequence and a pass from Cabella, David still had a great opportunity, but his shot did not find the frame… Involved in all the good shots, Cabella also gave a goal ball to Zhegrova, in failure against Kinsky before a missed attempt by David.

After the break, the Dogues came back with good intentions despite some inaccuracies as they approached the penalty area. Under pressure, Slavia logically gave in with a shift from Haraldsson to David, who scored a volley deflected by Holes to open the scoring (1-0, 52nd). Stunned and now totally overwhelmed, the Czechs were totally overwhelmed by the northern waves…

And yet, on a long touch, LOSC had a big scare with a goal from Ogbu logically disallowed for a handball. While the match was losing intensity, Zhegrova came out of her box by eliminating Holes before infiltrating the surface to adjust Kinsky (2-0, 77th)! Magnificent! In the process, Slavia thought they would revive the suspense thanks to Chytil, but an offside was signaled by the VAR… Until the end, Lille held on to validate a precious victory before the return leg.
