Olympique Lyonnais faced LOSC on Monday evening at the end of the 32nd day of Ligue 1. In a match that was fought until the end, it was OL who managed to pocket the three points of the game after coming back from afar.

Lille goes ahead
It was Lille who had possession from the start but it was OL who showed danger first. On a counter-attack launched by Maxence Caqueret, Said Benrahma tried to find Alexandre Lacazette in the area but the latter was beaten by Lucas Chevalier (4th ) . Lille responded immediately with a shot from Jonathan David which almost deceived Anthony Lopes, who quickly recovered (5th ) . While the pressure had subsided somewhat, the Portuguese goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent the Dogues from opening the score on a header from Bafodé Diakité who perfectly took a free kick from Yazici (1-0, 21st ) .

Stunned, the Gones went on the attack and could have equalized if Lacazette had aimed his header following a cross from Clinton Mata (32nd ) .

OL missed another opportunity to equalize with Ernest Nuamah seeing his shot go wide of Chevalier’s target (34th ) . The locals, for their part, did not miss the opportunity to take a break.

After a ball lost by Nemanja Matic, Jonathan David recovers the ball and serves Edon Zeghrova who wrong-footed Lopes (2-0, 37th ) . The score did not change until the end of the first half.

In the second half, the pace dropped with the Mastiffs switching to score management. OL still managed to create a few chances but Alexandre Lacazette showed hesitation each time, such as in the 53rd minute . It was finally Ernest Nuamah who lit up Chevalier with a shot from outside the area which the French goalkeeper diverted for a corner (54th ) .

This opportunity finally woke up the Gones who reduced the score immediately afterwards. While he had failed to control a deep pass from Matic, Maitland-Niles managed to serve Lacazette who in turn threw Benrahma who cleared Chevalier’s top corner (2-1, 67th ) . OL then confiscated the ball and kept the pressure on the Mastiffs.

By insisting, the Gones set the record straight thanks to Malick Fofana who converted a caviar from Mama Baldé (2-2, 82nd ) . But LOSC found the mental resources to regain the advantage in these final minutes thanks to a double from Bafodé Diakité who scored from a corner (3-2, 85th ) . However, the match was far from over as Lacazette equalized again for OL straight away by tapping in a cross from Maitland-Niles (3-3, 89th ) .

Les Gones even took the lead in added time on a furious header from Mama Baldé following a cross from Clinton Mata (3-4, 90+2). With this victory, OL (7th , 47pts) maintains its chances of European qualification while Lille (4th , 55pts) thwarts its chances of qualifying for the Champions League.
