Kosovo hosts Sweden at Fadil Vokrri, Dardanians want first points in qualifiers

8 September 2025 - 2:27 pm

The Kosovo national team hosts Sweden tonight at the “Fadil Vokrri” stadium, in the second qualifying match for the World Cup.

After the heavy loss on the road to Switzerland, where they were defeated with a deep score of 4-0, the Dardanians are looking for a reaction in front of their fans and are aiming for the first points in this campaign.

Sweden hasn’t started off in the best way either, as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Slovenia in the first match, which makes this match even more important for both national teams.

Pristina is expected to be filled with an extraordinary atmosphere, as the fans’ interest in supporting Kosovo is great.

The history of the confrontations goes in favor of the Scandinavians, as Sweden has emerged victorious in all three matches played so far, including two official matches in the qualifiers and one friendly.

However, Kosovo has the opportunity at home and with the great support of its fans to break this streak and write a new chapter in the confrontations with the Swedes.

The duel between Kosovo and Sweden starts at 20:45 and is expected to bring strong emotions to “Fadil Vokrri”.

Kosovo come into this one on the back of another typically open and attacking performance as they suffered a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Switzerland in Basel, with all four goals coming in the first-half. The Kosovans five matches in 2025 have consisted of a total of 24 goals.

They now face a Sweden side that have a squad consisting of the likes of Alexander Isak, who isn’t fully fit, as well as Anthony Elanga and Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedes have been improving for a while and they looked to have earned a crucial win the other day before being denied victory over Slovenia due to a late equaliser.

Kosovo will get on the front foot in this one and it should be a fun watch for the neutral, but Sweden are the firm favourites for what should be a high-scoring affair.
