Holders Manchester City face Chelsea in the semifinal of the FA Cup

Holders Manchester City face Chelsea in the semifinal of the FA Cup. The match at Wembley Stadium kicks off at 16:15 GMT.
City beat rivals Manchester United in last year’s final on the way to their first treble.

There will be no repeat this year, though, after Wednesday’s Champions League quarterfinal defeat by Real Madrid.

Chelsea have had a troubled season but have risen to ninth in the Premier League to keep alive their hopes of European football next year.

Chelsea are looking to reach a second final of the season, having lost to Liverpool 1-0 in the EFL Cup on February 25.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a bitter loss against the Reds with the contest decided deep into the second period of extra time.

Only eight clubs have won the League title and FA Cup ‘double’ in the same season.

Manchester City most recently achieved the feat last season (2022/23).

If the club was to clinch both titles again this year (City currently sits atop the EPL ladder), they would become the first team in history to win the ‘double’ in consecutive seasons, thereby adding another incredible achievement to Pep Guardiola’s managerial reign at Manchester City.

Chelsea is unbeaten in their last eight matches, including a season-best 6-0 thumping of Everton last Monday in the Premier League.

Chelsea has not lost a domestic league match since February 25, when they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.
