Fenerbahce will be looking to bounce back from a tough 1-3 defeat to bitter city rivals Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig derby.
They host Belgian side Union St. Gilloise at the beginning of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League phase on Thursday evening in Istanbul.
Feberbahce are already five points shy of Galatasaray at the top of the Super Lig standings after the inaugural six rounds.
They revealed defensive holes once again in a 1-3 home loss on Saturday. The team led by Jose Mourinho will, however, fancy their chances of keeping things quiet at the back here against the Belgians who have been struggling for goals at the start of the season.
Union St. Gilloise sit 12th in the Belgian First Division A standings with only two wins in the opening eight rounds of the season.
These two teams met each other in the last-16 round of the UEFA Conference League when Fenerbahce advanced 3-1 on aggregate thanks to a 3-0 victory in the first leg on the Belgian soil.
Fener put six goals past Swiss side Lugano in the Champions League second qualifying round before falling to Ligue 1 side Lille in the third round.
Each of their four Champions League affairs this season has seen goals at both ends. Union St. Gilloise did little to hurt Slavia Prague in the Champions League third qualifying round as they lost both home and away outings, conceding four goals in the process.
Alternatively, we will back experienced Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko to score anytime at the 2.40 odds. Dzeko has 9 goals in Champions League and Super Lig so far in the season.
