Croatia will start their 2024 Euro preparations with the home match

Croatia will start their 2024 Euro preparations with the home match against North Macedonia. The game kicks off on Monday afternoon in Croatian sea city Rijeka. The hosts are massive favourites. Will they justify the tag?

None of North Macedonia’s last nine away friendlies provided three or more goals. Croatia won three and drew one of the previous four exhibitions. North Macedonia lost six of their previous seven away outings across competitions.

Back-to-back World Cup semi-finalists Croatia finished their 2024 Euro qualifying group in second place. It was still enough to secure them another appearance in the continent’s biggest tournament for the national sides.

North Macedonia will not feature at the Euro this summer. They finished their respective qualifying group second from bottom with four losses in eight matches. Blagoja MIlevski’s men could not have done much more against the likes of England, Italy, and Ukraine.

Croatia go into this on the back of three wins and a draw in the last four outings across competitions. They put four goals past Egypt in an international friendly tournament in March this year. Head coach Zlatko Dalic has named a very strong provisional squad for Euro 2024.

North Macedonia are winless in four consecutive matches in all competitions. The streak includes a dismal showing in a 0-1 defeat away at Montenegro in an exhibition in March. Also, North Macedonia lost six of the last seven away fixtures in all competitions.

Four of these six defeats came by at least a two-goal margin. We like Croatia to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the odds of 1.95.

Alternatively, the value is also with the Under 2.5 goals pick at the 1.95 odds. Five of Croatia’s last seven exhibitions ended with fewer than three goals scored. The same scenario happened in each of North Macedonia’s previous nine away friendlies. Finally, only two of the previous five H2H clashes between these two outfits saw three or more goals scored.
