Chelsea won just one of the last seven away games in the league

Chelsea will search for their fourth consecutive league win on Wednesday evening. They visit The Amex to take on Brighton in the postponed fixture of Matchday No 34.

The Blues took over Manchester United in 7th place of the league table after a 3-2 road win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. They’ll head into this in much higher spirits than Brighton.

Chelsea won just one of the last seven away games in the league. Brighton shipped only one goal in the last two league fixtures against Aston Villa and Newcastle. Only one of Brighton’s last ten games in all competitions provided four or more goals.

Mauricio Pochettino seems to have managed to find the right formula at the death of the season. It is a bit too late for greater ambitions but the Blues still have time to secure European football in the remaining two fixtures of the season. Chelsea are currently lock on points with Newcastle United in 6th place of the league table. They are also three points above Manchester United in 8th position.

Brighton broke back into the top half of the league ladder by clinching four points from the previous two league outings. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi can be thrilled with the performances his men have shown in these games, especially from the defensive point of view.

Chelsea completed a fantastic comeback on Saturday afternoon at The City Ground. They’ve thus continued their magnificent attacking form. The Blues notched ten goals in the last three league wins. They did reveal the old defensive weaknesses at the weekend against Forest, though.

These weaknesses could be exploited by Brighton whose players have also found a positive rhythm in the latest set of fixtures. The Seagulls conceded just one goal in the matches against Aston Villa and Newcastle.

While they’ve been struggling to perform on a consistent basis throughout the season, Brighton will enter this tie on a high. We do not see them as such big underdogs as the bookies present them at The Amex. Based on Brighton’s latest displays, we will chase the home win or draw double chance bet at the 1.80 odds.
