Cagliari vs. Juventus – probable line-ups

Carlos Alcaraz is expected to start in the Juventus midfield against Cagliari tonight, while Wojciech Szczesny will go between the sticks despite a recent fractured nose and surgery.

The Sardinians must cope without the injured Leonardo Pavoletti, Andrea Petagna and Marco Mancosu, but there are still a few doubts regarding the starting line-up.

Claudio Ranieri could pick a three-man defence again, the same system that helped his Cagliari side secure a 2-2 draw against Inter last week. Nahitan Nandez and Alessandro Deiola are back after serving a one-match ban in the previous round, while Eldor Shomurodov is expected to start in attack alongside Zito Luvumbo.

Juventus are without the injured Fabio Miretti and Moise Kean plus the suspended Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli.

Szczesny will start in goal despite undergoing surgery for a broken nose last week. Carlos Alcaraz is favourite over Filip Kostic, which means the Southampton loanee could start in midfield, probably as an attacking midfielder, with Weston McKennie on the right wing and Andrea Cambiaso on the left.

Federico Chiesa and Dusan Vlahovic are likely to get the nod in attack, with the Italian favourite over Kenan Yildiz.
