Ten-time Spanish Copa del Rey Champions Atlético Madrid will look to make the most of their home form as they host Getafe in the quarter-finals. This match at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday comes with our prediction of under 2.5 goals.
Atlético were the losing semi-finalists last season, while Getafe are looking to reach the semi-finals of this competition for the first time since 2009/10.
Atlético won 2-0 at home against Mallorca in their last match at the weekend in the league. That kept them one point behind leaders Real Madrid, a side they will face next. That prospect will be an unwanted distraction for the hosts, as they aim to stay in control of winning this competition.
This will be the first home game of this year’s competition for Atlético, having won all three previous rounds against lower league clubs away from home.
For Getafe, this is a fifth consecutive away match in this year’s competition and is also their first against a La Liga side. They drew 0-0 at home against Sevilla at the weekend and are unbeaten in six competitive matches.
Their away form has improved too, with four wins in a row on the road in all competitions. Interestingly, their last away defeat has come at this venue, when they lost 1-0 in the league last December.
Javi Galan remains on the sidelines because of a knee problem, while Rodrigo De Paul is back in the mix after serving a suspension. Diego Simeone is expected to make a handful of changes to the XI that started in their last outing.
Against Getafe, the Atletico Madrid manager will stick to the 4-4-2 formation, where Juan Musso is expected to take charge in goal for this fixture. The backline will consist of Marcos Llorente, Jose Gimenez, Axel Witsel, and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Angel Correa and Samuel Lino will feature on the flanks in central midfield, while Conor Gallagher and Koke should feature in a more central role trying to control the tempo of the game. In the final third, Alexander Sorloth should partner with Antoine Griezmann.
