France will look to remain unbeaten at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as they take on Argentina in the quarter-finals.
France and Argentina, two of the favorites to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, will meet in the quarter-finals. Led by Thierry Henry, Les Bleus collected all nine points in Group A, comfortably winning their matches against the United States, Guinea, and New Zealand. The host nation scored seven goals in the group stage, and kept three clean sheets.
Argentina’s tournament got off to a much more frustrating start. La Albiceleste saw their game-tying goal against Morocco taken away after two hours, handing them a loss in their first Group B fixture. Javier Mascherano’s men bounced back, though, and collected six points in their final two matches, earning a second-place finish and a clash with France.
After resting a majority of his starters against New Zealand, Thierry Henry will be back to his strongest XI against Argentina. Expect Michael Olise, Alexandre Lacazette, and Jean-Philippe Mateta to dominate up top while Loic Bade returns to his place alongside Castello Lukeba at the back.
Enzo Millot suffered an injury in training last weekend and was not featured in France’s final group stage match. The midfielder’s status is still unknown ahead of the quarter-finals, but if he is unfit, Maghnes Akliouche will continue to start in his place.
