Albanian side Egnatia will welcome Iceland’s Breidablik for the first leg of the first round of the UCL qualifying

Albanian side Egnatia will welcome Iceland’s Breidablik for the first leg of the first round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying. As the champions in their respective domestic leagues meet, below is our prediction for their first-ever head-to-head clash.

Egnatia fell in the Champions League at this same stage last season. The hosts lost the tie against Borac on post-match pelaties after the two played out a 2-2 draw.

They will hope to avoid the same and have prepared with two friendly wins.

Competitively, they won’t be favorites after winning just twice in nine matches. Their situation isn’t any better on home turf, where Egnatia have lost twice in their last five matches. They only have one win in their last 10 home games.

Breidablik will look at this as a winnable game. The Iceland champions are not only coming here assumed to be fitter, they are also on a much better run.

Their league is currently on, and Breidablik will benefit from playing more competitive matches in recent times. They are third in their domestic league, and most importantly, unbeaten in their last five matches, winning three of them.

Breidbablik have seven wins in their last 10 matches played away from home. In eight of those 10, they scored two or more.
