Our judoka, Akil Gjakova, has managed to successfully overcome the next obstacle, thus defeating the Italian Manuel Lombardo, to qualify for the semi-final stage.
Gjakova managed to win this duel with a ‘golden score’ after three mistakes that the referee gave to the Italian judoka.
To reach this stage, Gjakova first defeated the Brazilian Daniel Cargni in the first round.
Meanwhile, in the second round, he faced Austrian Samuel Gassner, whom he managed to defeat by Ippon.
Just one victory away from a medal, Akili will now face Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov in the semi-finals.
