Borussia Dortmund who sacked Nuri Sahin after poor results are back in action. They are set to take on Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday aiming to return to winning ways in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund are going through a poor run of form, losing four consecutive games in a row. This run of poor form has seen Nuri Sahin lose his job as Under 19 youth coach Mike Tullberg takes charge till they find his successor.
They are languishing in tenth position in the overall standings, so their place for a Champions League place is at risk. Defeat against Bologna in the last match was the final nail in the coffin for Nuri Sahin.
Werder Bremen are also going through a similar run of form with the club failing to win any of their last three matches. They find themselves one point above Dortmund in ninth position for now. Their last three matches have seen them lose against RB Leipzig and Augsburg with a draw against FC Heidenheim being the only positive one.
This season seems to be the breakthrough year for Jamie Gittens who is starting to showcase his potential consistently. Having already notched seven goals and three assists from 18 appearances, he is already being watched by several top clubs. In his last three Bundesliga appearances, Gittens has scored two goals and is probably the best player on the team.
Jens Stage has been one of the most impressive players in the team this season. He has consistently delivered the goals for the team scoring seven goals in 14 appearances while also adding another two assists. Despite playing as a midfielder, doing the defensive work, he is also chipping in with the goals at the moment. In his last six matches, he has contributed two goals and two assists.
Borussia Dortmund have two injury concerns in their squad as Serhou Guirassy and Niklas Süle are sidelined due to ankle and rib injury respectively.
Werder Bremen will also miss Felix Agu and Keke Topp for this clash due to knee and ankle injuries.
