Lille come into Saturday evening´s Ligue 1 encounter in high spirits after a remarkable and well-deserved 1:0 win against Champions League holders Real Madrid on Wednesday. Jonathan David´s penalty on the stroke of half-time secured a famous win for Les Dogues.
Bruno Génésio´s side seem to have found some form after a difficult run of four successive losses between the end of August and mid-September. Since then, Lille claimed a point against Strasbourg (3:3) before a comfortable 3:0 win at Le Havre last weekend.
Les Dogues boast a strong home record, although recent results have been a little less impressive. Génésio´s side are unbeaten in 33 of their last 36 home Ligue 1 fixtures, although they have failed to win four of their last five on home soil.
Still, after Wednesday’s magnificent result, Lille will be confident of making it three wins in a row this weekend.
Toulouse make the trip to Lille after a dramatic 2:1 home reversal against Lyon last weekend. Malick Fofana´s stoppage time goal made it three defeats in four Ligue 1 games for Carles Martínez´s men. Six games into the season, Les Violets sit down in 16th spot, with just five points picked up thus far.
Given their contrasting recent form, I´m confident Lille can collect another victory this weekend. Les Dogues claimed victory in two of their last three home matches against Toulouse, and a similar outcome seems likely on Saturday.
