Portugal beat Slovenia 3-0 on penalties to reach the quarterfinal of Euro 2024, after their last 16 tie ended 0-0 after extra time at Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt.
Cristiano Ronaldo had missed a penalty in extra time as Portugal failed to break down a resolute Slovenia defence, but he redeemed himself by scoring in the shootout as Portugal booked a quarterfinal against France on Friday.
Portugal’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa was the hero of the shootout, saving three Slovenia penalties.

Portugal will play France in the quarter-finals.
