Wolves and Chelsea began the season with 0-2 defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City respectively.
They’ll be looking to get the maiden points on board in the head-to-head match in the second round of the competition on Sunday afternoon at Molineux Stadium.
The match will be particularly interesting for Pedro Neto who replaced the Wolves shirt for Chelsea’s blue this summer.
It will be intriguing to see whether Enzo Maresca pushes Neto to the starting XI after the Portuguese winger came on as a second-half bench in a 0-2 home loss to Man City seven days ago.
Chelsea have done another overhaul with their roster in between the two seasons. It also includes the appointment of former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as the new head coach.
As for Wolves, their direction remains a mystery after two huge losses in between the two campaigns. The fact that Gary O’Neil has lost the likes of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto this summer should certainly make Wolves weaker than last season.
Wolves vs Chelsea Prediction
Wolves go into this on the back of three consecutive victories over Chelsea. They put four goals past the Blues in the most recent head-to-head encounter in February last year at the Stamford Bridge.
Things are somewhat different this time around as Chelsea have improved their roster while Wolves look weaker on paper.
Indeed, the Blues looked decent in a 0-2 defeat to Man City seven days ago. They had their chances, namely through Nicolas Jackson, bit failed to convert and were eventually punished by a Mateo Kovacic solo goal.
Also, Wolverhampton lost three of the last four outings across competitions. They did little to hurt Arsenal in a 0-2 defeat at Emirates Stadium eight days ago.
