Antonio Conte will make debut on Napoli’s bench in Serie A on Sunday afternoon. The Partinopei travel to Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to tackle Verona on the opening day of the 2024/25 season.
Napoli endured a dreadful campaign last time out. They finished the season in 10th place as the defending champions.
The Partinopei enter the new season hoping to make amends and rejoin the battle for the top-four finish and a place in the UEFA Champions League next year.
Verona ended last season in 13th position, being just three points above Frosinone in the relegation zone.
They’ve also made a managerial change this summer, appointing Paolo Zanetti as the new head coach instead of Marco Baroni.
Verona will come into this off the back of a poor display in a 1-2 home loss to lower-division Cesena at the beginning of the Coppa Italia campaign.
Napoli jumped above Modena on penalties after a goalless draw in regular time.
Verona vs Napoli Prediction
Napoli did not thrive offensively in the pre-season under Conte. They are still without main star Victor Osimnhen who awaits for the big summer move, most likely to PSG.
In his absence Napoli have huge problems in the final third. The fact they’ve scored just one goal in the last three matches speaks volumes.
On a positive note for Conte, Napoli’s back line looks solid. The team kept three clean sheets in four outings this summer.
Verona did not do much up front in a home loss to Cesena last weekend in Coppa Italia, delivering just three shots on target in the 90 minutes of action.
