Manchester United and Fulham will raise the curtain on the new Premier League season on Friday evening at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are hoping to bounce back from a horrendous campaign in the previous Premier League term.
They finished the season in 8th place, their worst effort in the history of this Premier League format. Erik ten Hag’s men rescued the season with the FA Cup win over bitter city rivals Manchester City in May at Wembley.
These two sides revoked their rivalry in the Community Shield tie last weekend, the Citizens getting their slight revenge with a win on penalties.
The regular part of the game ended in a 1-1 draw as Bernardo Silva cancelled Alejandro Garnacho’s late opener.
Fulham will enter this in high spirits after a 2-0 win over Hoffenheim in their last pre-season exhibition.
Emile Smith-Rowe and Adama Traore were on target as the Cottagers kept their net untouched in a very open game packed with chances on both ends.
Fulham finished the last season in 13th place. They will aim at a top-half campaign this time around. A positive result at the start of the season at the Old Trafford would certainly give them much-needed confidence ahead of a nice series of fixtures.
