Newcastle United have won one of their last four matches

The club from St James’ Park had a successful last season. They won the League Cup and finished fifth in the Premier League. This season, they are performing well in the Champions League—making it through to the playoffs, where they beat Qarabag with two wins in February. Against Barcelona, they managed only a home draw, but suffered a heavy defeat away. Before that, they also lost by more than a minimal margin to Manchester City in the cup. In the Premier League, they mostly remain mid-table, although they still have a chance to qualify for European competitions again. Notably, they managed to beat Chelsea away.

The team from the Stadium of Light returned to the Premier League after a long break—Le Bris, in his first year in England, led his new team to the Championship playoffs and won promotion. On the top level, especially at the start, the players also looked solid. However, in the most recent round they lost to Brighton. Additionally, there was a sensational 0-1 defeat to Port Vale in the cup.

Gordon and his teammates are showing balanced results: 1.43 goals scored and conceded per match. The newcomers play with less flair, but also maintain a relative balance: one goal scored and 1.17 conceded on average.
